It's carefully written and nicely laid out. The author's dedication and personal involvement lends it added authority.
Nurses, and long term care nurses in particular, will find inspiration and enjoyment in reading this book. Through the sharing of her personal experiences, occasionally with a touch of humor, Lansing shares the message that the long term care nurse can find a love for her job by focusing on making life better for residents and by caring for one's self. Her tips on dealing with patients suffering from Alzheimer's are particularly helpful.
I have worked in the business office of 2 nursing homes and also had a mother that had Alzheimer's and ended up in a nursing home and currently have a mother-in-law with alzheimer's in a nursing home. It takes a very special person to work in a nursing home and give the day to day care of someone's family. Thank you to all the wonderful nursing home care givers. You are all gems in my book!
