Zane Grey - The Lone Star Ranger

The Lone Star Ranger Illustrated edition by Zane Grey Literature Fiction eBooks

For me personally, this was a great book. I read Zane Grey's books because they take me to another time and another place with great descriptions, and the action that happened during that time in our nation's history. Thoroughly enjoyed this one and soon will have another one in my hands, going back to times and places I can't ever go to personally, except through the vision of author Zane Grey. For me, one of my all time favorites. I read most of his books as a young teen and now in my late 60's, I'm going again. Love my journeys.

The Lone Star Ranger Illustrated edition by Zane Grey Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

"The Lone Star Ranger" was one of the volumes of a series of books called "The Zane Grey Library" that my dad owned and was one of the first westerns I ever read as a kid, so I enjoyed reading it again. The story of how it was cobbled together by the publishers from two other totally unrelated manuscripts submitted by Grey is well known, as is the general opinion that it isn't as good as either of those (which have since been published as originally written) or even among the best of the Grey books, but it still isn't a bad book once you get past the somewhat stilted writing style that was popular a century ago.
My Dad read all the, what I call the old writers, and I guess at my old age, I'm following in his footsteps. He loved westerns and so do I, which I don't think is a bit unusual in a woman. Why not, we loved playing cowboys and Indians right along with our brothers! My husband and I watch westerns on t.v. all the time. Once a tomboy always a tomboy. Haha I highly recommend this book. It's very interesting and very well written!
Good book. It follows a Zane Grey pattern of lone hero in conflict with the bad guys whose daughter is the hero's love interest. Not overly violent and no expletives. All in all, it was a good, clean read!
As with any Zane Grey book, I have only words of praise. I've been reading his books since my teen years and still enjoy re-reading them. Grey is at the head of his class when it comes to writing of life in early America's pioneer days.
This is the third book I have read by zane grey. As the previous two books this one has a super cowboy hero who gets the girl at the end. The story keeps you reading with almost predictable results. If you enjoy this kind of read this book is for you.
Zane Grey is the premier western story teller of the US!!! His books have traveled the world, over the years read by children and adults alike!!!
I was very happy to snag this in eBook format, so that I could re-read this classic tale wherever I ramble off to...

If you want to read US Old Western stories, Zane Grey is the best!!! Also, check out Louis L'Amour, another great American Western storyteller!!!

Cheers!!!
I had never read a Zane Grey novel before but I was drawn by the prospect of a good old cowboy story. I was not disappointed. It was like the old cowboy movies I enjoyed when I was growing up. The book version got the reader deeper into the character of the hero of the story. For me, that was the only flaw in this book. There were times when the author spent too much time telling about every thought that the lonely fugitive was thinking. I felt that this disrupted the flow of the action. I wanted to know what was going to happen next and I had to wade through all of the emotions of the lone firefighter.
I look forward to reading more of Grey's novels to compare them to this one.
